Living on the boat in the abrohlos

10 juli 2017 - West End, Australië

Back in Geraldton, i have been living on a boat for the last days in the abrohlos, currently we are wednesday, i am not in the best mood cause my ripcurl bells beach sweater has just been blown in the ocean after a storm, so bye bye favorite hoodie :( but let's stop focusing on the bad things and start with the good ones. The week has actually been a week of first timers for me and it is absolutely awesome, we had some bad luck with the weather but still, i swam with seals multiple times, had my first jetski ride, saw dolphins jumping next to me on the jetski, learned how to kill and filet a fish and i am loving it! A normal day starts with doing my exercises or like this morning going with conzie to the beach on the dingi to do some aerobics. Then brekkie time, bacon and eggs or pancakes. Afterwards it's time for a swim or snorkel, the guys go spearfishing, not a big fan of that because of the sharks they attrack, yesterday a shark even took the spear and the whole fish with him, everybody was in the boat so fast was hilarious, big guys big mouths small guts haha there has been no sun so no sunbathing so far but its nice to just sit around, fish a bit, read a bit. Of course there is some cleaning involved but we are five girls on one boat so thats quite ok! There is me and Eveline, really nice to have a friend from home around, then there are two german backpackers, tamara and Conzie, they are really nice, girls who love to have a laugh, serious chat or party whatever the mood brings us and there is Jess from England, party in da house with that one. Gavin likes to cook so we girls take out the guts of the fish and filet them and he makes a delicious seafood meal of it! Afterwards its drinking time, what else to do in the middle of deserted islands, so every night ends up feeling like an erasmus party again, playing drinking games, disco nights and card games or tge complete opposite being in bed at 20h.
So thats the passing of the day, for now we have already visited 4 islands, the islands themselves are not so impressive except this last one was inhabited by seals, and we found some bones so we reconstructed one, and all the other ones are just some vegetation and heaps of shelves. But the underwaterworld is really beautiful, we are all the time surrounded by lagoons, reefs, so many fishes, sealions, dolphins, sharks. I really feel blessed seeing this remote part of Australia.

A little timelapse, currently we are monday and the trip has ended, the weather forecast was to bad to keep on going unfortunately, just been crossing a really though ocean with a hangover and not enough sleep, definetly not the best idea! But our last ocean party was the best ever going loco with 8 people in the middle of nowhere. Or as some might say and hope what happens on marine 2 stays at marine 2. The last days have been the best though. Nice sunny weather, we went for a snorkel in a underwater reserve (and got yelled back in the boat cause a 7 ft tigershark was swimming towards us), afterwards we played it more safe going for a nightfish and discovering some new islands. our last day we went for deepsea fishing, and it was literally packed with sharks around us. I caught my first fish after days of nothing and the guys caught a few sharks but unfortunately they ate the whole line instead of we eating them.
Tonight we go for a fancy dinner, steak after eating to much fish and then back to Perth! Gonna try to find new travelmates again to have a good time with and drive all the way up to Darwin by monday, hopefuy without breakdowns this time, fingers crossed!
