West coast week one

23 juli 2017 - Yannarie, Australië

The first week travelling the west coast of oz is already finished and time really flies. For me this is the most beautiful part of Australia so far. I started travelling last saterday. We got back with the boat from the Albrohlos on tuesday, it was probably one of the worst nights ever for all of us. There were 6m waves the whole time, it took us 25 hours to cross over not more than 400ks, you couldn't go to the toilet without being thrown off and everybody except me and the captain and bailey got seasick that night. We couldn't sit on the deck cause waves were splashing over the whole boat so we ended up sleeping on the ground, puking, laying on the ground for the whole trip trying to keep the closets closed and not to be killed by flying boxes. Anyway we survived! I spent the next two nights sleeping in the boat at the harbor together with sam, conzie, tamara and eveline. It were very nice evenings, playing games and cooking for eachother. But weather was bad and my legs became restless again so i started looking for travelmates to drive up to the sun. Conzie made a spontaneus decision to come with me on a last roadtrip for her cause her visum runs out after spending 1.5 years in Australia. So one spot to fill up. I got in touch with Krista, a girl from the Netherlands who has been travelling around the world by herself for the last two years, i met her together with Eveline and felt really good about our first meeting, she is such a happy, free, open, easygoing personality, perfect travel partner. We were gonna leave the day after so it was time to say goodbye to people, first Eveline and me went to see claire and sean, she cooked us a really nice meal and we got a shower and real bed to sleep in, backpacking luxury. I was feeling so happy to have met them and to know that we will always have a home in Perth! The day after i met with Les, one of my regulars from Kukerin. It felt really nice seeing a familiar face from there and to catch up. Then some shopping time and off we went. First stop, the vineyard from the family of some kukerin mates, we did some winetasting and bought ourselves a nice bottle for on the road. Next days were not to special, we drove past Geraldton and ate macca's to keep the boat tradition in honor and then finally sunshine! First big stop, Kalbarri national park, the biggest attraction of the park was shut, but we did some nice coastal walks. Then after such a nice day i got some terrible personal news from home. And i really want to thank my travelmates to be there for me at that point, they listened to me and let me get drunk, and then the day after comforted me. Also my home friends, thanks for being there for me anytime of the day! I started feeling better afterwards, how couldn't i, i am in australia in a world heritage site. We visited monkey mia to see the dolphin feeding, spent some hours reading at a lagoon and ended up on shell beach, to finish seeing the sunset at hamilton pier. Pretty nice day i wreckin. Next day we drove up to coral bay to go snorkelling at the ningaloo reef and our first beach day! The visability was pretty shit, but still not to bad. Next in line was Exmouth, we visited cape range national park for a day, snorkelling at turquoise bay and climbing a gorge, and yes i did it, and no i still don't have backpain. Backpain is something rare here on my travels and i couldnt be happier about this. I dont know what to blame, living healthier, doing more exercises and walking, no stress or holiday feeling, or the combination but it's working!!! I decided to spent another day in exmouth to go diving. I did the navy pier dive, number 7on the nicest shore dives in the world and it was really worth it, felt like diving in an aquarium, saw big, small, schools of fishes, turtles, sharks, dolphins.. I loved it. Cant wait for my next dive now. The pier is actually army property so we needed special (expensive) passes and control by the government and army. But all was good, i still look innocent. We met that day a woman on the beach who needed help with her bike, and because of our help we could spent the night with her. It was a pretty funny experience as she was pretty drunk when we arrived but whe had a nice meal together and she did a handreading for us. Apparently i have a big artistic side and i am really creative and one day i will be able to live from my art and meet my husband through it. But in order to do that i need to stop overthinking and putting my head above all other things. Not sure if i should believe something as she was drunk, but i do really like the arty part, maybe one day i can sell my paintings, who nows.. On our way to to karajini national park, the absolute highlight on the west coast so pretty excited about that, 400km to go! This is it for now, pictures will follow when i finally find some wifi in this country :)
